One day I quit my job, sold everything I owned, and bought a plane ticket to Asia in search of ‘self’. Crazy eh? After climbing mountains, babysitting monkeys, visiting healers and waking in a bed full of fire ants…I came home to pursue health, happiness, and heart stopping adventure.
This is a journey of ‘going good’ by making healthy positive changes in order to live a more fulfilling life.
My name is Victoria, and I’m your average thirty-some year old who took a not so average path in order to discover a solid sense of self. That self-awareness, raw honesty, fierce determination and the ability to laugh at my own quirky mishaps are what are leading my life to new heights. Life isn’t happening to me, I’m happening to it. I’m in the driver’s seat because there a lot I want to experience in life (check out my life list or past adventures and you’ll see) and I refuse to grow old wishing away things I shoulda/woulda/coulda done.
I’m aiming for a healthy life with a side of epic.
Recipes and nutrition are a thing of constant experimentation, sometimes it’s a disaster (as my family can attest) and sometimes they are clear winners – which get posted here. I have a firm belief that foods heal, and we have the ability to support (and change) our health with diet. When I was at my worst, my weight reached it’s heaviest point at 180lbs (I’m 5’6″). That scared the eff out of me. There were years of Weight Watchers, Greco’s, Crossfit and Clean Eating…and with each new attempt I learned a little more about myself, my body and nutrition. I’m constantly researching, learning and opening up to new ideas. I love having science based facts to support nutrition. In fact, I’m working towards a degree in health science just for that reason!
My food philosophy
- Conscience eating
- wholesome local foods
- nutrient dense foods (so called ‘super foods’)
- concentrating on the ‘clean 15′ for non-organic
- buying organic when it comes to the ‘dirty dozen’
- hormone, chemical free meats (local/free range/grass fed)
- WATER, WATER, WATER
- science based facts, not fads or unproven trends.
Right, so sometimes there’s enough drama and negativity in the world to suck our souls if we let it. The problem is, it’s only an issue if we allow it to be. Ya, I know that sounds overly simplistic and I can hear all the “buts” “you don’t understand” and “its impossible” you’re shouting back. Well, chances are you’re in that negative spot because you allow yourself to be. (I said chances are…I do understand life circumstance) So change. CHANGE. Life really is too short not to be happy. Determine your end goal, what will actually make you happy. Then find out how to get there, and make smaller goals. With one foot in front of the other, fight for the small goals and eventually make the big ones happen. There’s only two rules in life; be happy and be kind to others.
Life is fabulous, more than fabulous actually, and there’s opportunity to change and be happy around every corner. Look closely.
