The prioritization of wellness while exploring nature for all persons, through safe and responsible recreation.

Mission

Promote the prioritization of wellness while exploring nature for all persons, through safe and responsible recreation.

Ethos

We are guests in nature.

Let us care for and protect her, as nature’s health and our own are connected.

We are guests on indigenous lands.

Let us seek to understand, respect, and actively advocate.

We are guests of land/trail managers.

Let us abide by their guidelines and rules.

GirlGoneGood Wellness + Wilderness

The driving forces behind GirlGoneGood® are:

  • helping others find new trails to explore
  • encouraging respectful/smart hiking
  • wellness and mental health
  • supporting local/small business/community
  • paying it forward

Admittedly a ridiculous business name, yet kinda catchy and has slowly made a name for itself. The website started in 2012 to showcase travels and smoothies mostly, and boy, have we grown.

Vickie (Walsh) Lanthier

Storyteller. Adventurer.

I’m a 14 yr military veteran who works as an IT consultant by day, completed an Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2020, and runs GirlGoneGood® in my, ahem, spare time. Admittedly sounds like an odd mix of interests; however adventure, media, and health are the backbone of GirlGoneGood®.

As a frequent wanderer and avid day hiker with over 20 yrs experience, I understand how intimidating new trails can be if you don’t have all the information to properly prepare. The resources here help bridge that gap so that you can experience the immense benefit to our well- being that nature provides, while engaging in safe and responsible recreation.

Will publish ‘Life by a Thousand Little Cuts’

Life by a Thousand Cuts debuting in 2022.

In Life by a Thousand Little Cuts, readers are taken through a wild collection of lived experiences. Each tale offers a raw and honest glimpse into a life well lived, not despite the challenges and traumas, but perhaps, just perhaps, because of them. It explores the three guiding principles of her life, the ones that have made navigating extraordinary life changes possible, and even desirable. Vickie writes as she speaks, with relatable humility, humour, and passion.
